INFJ Relationships, Love & Compatibility

December 18, by philipbullitthughes The INTP is perhaps the most peculiar personality type of all. To the outside observer, it might seem that this would present some challenges for the INTP when it comes to the dating scene. And it might, that is, if they cared about pleasing types who found their oddities unappealing. Fortunately for them, they tend to be attracted to and attract personalities that absolutely love their quirks. Thus, the world of love actually can be an easier place for them to navigate than many types. There, they are likely to catch the eye of some NF or NT who appreciates their vivid imaginations, slicing wit, and intelligent discourse. It is in these places that the INTP is most likely to find a mate.

As soon as I was able to use it to explain my weirdness, I wanted the rest of my family to type themselves, including my husband. Of course these are generalizations, something personality theory as a whole is subject to. I think it was this that got my attention when I met my husband: I had never met someone so much like me, but with more confidence. He was in a previous relationship with someone who enjoyed socializing regularly, and he describes this as a source of constant struggle between them.

One of today’s most popular and widely recognized typologies for human behavior is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which was built in large part upon Jung’s theory of four psychological functions (sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking) and attitudes (introverted vs. extroverted).

Four temperaments[ edit ] David Keirsey expanded on the ancient study of temperament by Hippocrates and Plato. In his works, Keirsey used the names suggested by Plato: Artisan iconic , Guardian pistic , Idealist noetic , and Rational dianoetic. Keirsey divided the four temperaments into two categories roles , each with two types role variants. The resulting 16 types correlate with the 16 personality types described by Briggs and Myers. Seeking stimulation and virtuosity, they are concerned with making an impact.

Their greatest strength is tactics. They excel at troubleshooting, agility, and the manipulation of tools, instruments, and equipment. Operators are the directive proactive Artisans. Their most developed intelligence operation is expediting. The attentive Crafters and the expressive Promoters are the two role variants. Entertainers are the informative reactive Artisans. Their most developed intelligence operation is improvising. The attentive Composers and the expressive Performers are the two role variants.

6 Reasons Why ENFP and INFJ Fall In Love

That task may seem a little thankless, which helps us understand some of the challenges they face. Deep down inside, INTPs care more than they let on. Ti works the best when it is without social obligation. INTPs in the survey revealed their greatest challenge was in connecting with other people. Interaction with the environment without being attached to any outcome.

INTP Characteristics. The INTP personality is referred to as the “thinker.” This kind of person has a bright and curious mind that is always mulling over possibilities, theories, and what-ifs.

Although it may have started with the Egyptians or Mesopotamians, the first typology of temperament is credited to an Ancient Greek physician named Hippocrates who developed a model of personality types called The Four Humors. Typology of temperament is as old as mythology, so it is probably no coincidence that both were popularized by the Ancient Greeks.

A myth, by its definition, explains how the world came to be through a story where the main characters are gods, supernatural heroes, or extraordinary human beings. In Jungian psychology, archetypes are patterns of thought and images that exist in all cultures and individuals and are unconsciously expressed through art, literature, and other patterns of behavior. The MBTI is a four-letter indicator representing four dimensions: Introversion action oriented vs.

You have two weeks to do this. They will have none of these problems. The ENTJs are solely focused on earning money. They have plans, they know their limits, they are realistic but always thinking big. And I am the only type that makes a good CEO. In the ENTJ course like in every course I talked about how life becomes more interesting if you understand yourself better and when you understand how people around you react to you and why.

Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their J preference for closure and completion, they are generally “doers” as well as dreamers. This rare combination of vision and practicality often results in INFJs taking a disproportionate amount of responsibility in the various causes to which so many of them seem to be drawn.

INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large. They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people — a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world. On the contrary, INFJs are true introverts, who can only be emotionally intimate and fulfilled with a chosen few from among their long-term friends, family, or obvious “soul mates.

This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent “givers. Due in part to the unique perspective produced by this alternation between detachment and involvement in the lives of the people around them, INFJs may well have the clearest insights of all the types into the motivations of others, for good and for evil.

The most important contributing factor to this uncanny gift, however, are the empathic abilities often found in Fs, which seem to be especially heightened in the INFJ type possibly by the dominance of the introverted N function. This empathy can serve as a classic example of the two-edged nature of certain INFJ talents, as it can be strong enough to cause discomfort or pain in negative or stressful situations.

More explicit inner conflicts are also not uncommon in INFJs; it is possible to speculate that the causes for some of these may lie in the specific combinations of preferences which define this complex type. For instance, there can sometimes be a “tug-of-war” between NF vision and idealism and the J practicality that urges compromise for the sake of achieving the highest priority goals. And the I and J combination, while perhaps enhancing self-awareness, may make it difficult for INFJs to articulate their deepest and most convoluted feelings.

This Myers-Briggs personality is defined as being extraverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging. This is one of the less common Myers-Briggs personalities, accounting for an estimated two percent of the population. This type of extravert is often well-loved wherever they go and is very dedicated to finding the right life-long companion. An ENFJ searching for love, however, may find it difficult to restrain their own negative traits which can doom a relationship.

Extraverted feeling, the auxiliary deciding function, expresses a range of emotion and opinions of, for and about people. INFJs, like many other FJ types, find themselves caught between the desire to express their wealth of feelings and moral conclusions about the actions and attitudes of others, and the awareness of the consequences of unbridled candor.

The terms used for each dichotomy have specific technical meanings relating to the MBTI, which differ from their everyday usage. For example, people who prefer judgment over perception are not necessarily more “judgmental” or less “perceptive”, nor does the MBTI instrument measure aptitude ; it simply indicates for one preference over another. Point scores on each of the dichotomies can vary considerably from person to person, even among those with the same type.

However, Isabel Myers considered the direction of the preference for example, E vs. I to be more important than the degree of the preference for example, very clear vs. The preferences interact through type dynamics and type development. Extraversion means literally outward-turning and introversion, inward-turning.

Extraversion is the spelling used in MBTI publications. The preferences for extraversion and introversion are often called ” attitudes “. Briggs and Myers recognized that each of the cognitive functions can operate in the external world of behavior, action, people, and things “extraverted attitude” or the internal world of ideas and reflection “introverted attitude”.

Before a Relationship Compared to the other types, INTJs typically develop romantic relationships slightly later in life. This may be due to several different reasons. For one, INTJs do not inherently adhere to social rituals, as flirtation and small talk are viewed as obligatory rather than pleasurable. In addition, INTJs place a high focus on education and career, placing little thought on relationships until they feel that they have the time.

Finally, they do not naturally display their emotions, which can be mistaken by others for a lack of affection or disinterest. As INTJs mature, they generally excel in their area of expertise. This translates into more overall confidence. Likewise, they may begin observing more social rituals when they can reconcile the value of understanding social behaviors with their heftier objectives in life. Others may find their reserved power, intelligence, and enigmatic nature to be attractive.

When searching for a partner, they can be quite logical about their choice. Due to their strong intuition, they can usually tell within seconds whether or not someone can be a potential mate. Others may interpret this as being dismissive, when in reality they are being honest.

I leave this post here for archival purposes, and may do an up-dated LOTR chart in the future. With the The Hobbit: I admit not every one of these characters fit perfectly where I put them. I do mention them in the discussion below.

Social network is for quick and interesting communication. We are a LGBT friendly site, we respect all religions and races. Our advantage is unity, tolerance, youthful liberal ideas and selflessness. We are united by logic, feelings, good sense of humor, sarcasm, curiosity and faith.

As it turns out, Idealists pair best with other idealists. As fellow idealists, the INFJ and ENFP are on the same wavelength in terms of their fondness for new possibilities and their soulful quest for fulfillment and meaning in almost all aspects of their lives. They share similar qualities but also a number of distinct differences. These two types have great chemistry and can potentially form a long lasting and satisfying relationship. The INFJ for their part, loves spending time with their beloved, performing thoughtful gestures, and lavishing them with attention and affection.

ENFPs can be chatty but they are not glib and have the capacity to enthrall their INFJ partner with surprisingly deep and poignant observations about life. It is not always easy for INFJs to articulate with words what they think or feel and so they appreciate that ENFPs are able to express themselves so openly and un-self-consciously. Although INFJs are warm and friendly with almost everyone, there is a significant portion of themselves that is withheld and they desperately hold out for the special someone s with whom they can share it with.

They can both be hopeless romantics with a tendency to idealize and idolize people they become enamored with. Coming together to create the ENFP INFJ love story, these two will no doubt find in each other a possible soulmate with whom they can indulge and live out some of their most passionate fantasies. They share the same cognitive preferences but of opposite attitudes.

This is primarily why they are able to relate to one another so well. INFJs are conscientious and tend to be better at keeping schedules and following day-to-day routines.

Long-lasting INTP relationships may be tougher to develop initially, but those who are able to stick it out can enjoy affectionate and fulfilling long-term relationships. This Myers-Briggs personality is characterized as being introverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. These traits create an individual that is mostly concerned with internal affairs rather than that which goes on around them. For the right individual, an INTP can be a very loving, affectionate, and committed companion. The dominant features of the personality is the introverted thinker.

This analytical personality loves to mull over things and will often wander so deeply into the recesses of their own mind that to an outsider, they may appear disinterested, detached, or even anti-social. They have many depths to their personality, each of which will be revealed if and when they deem an individual worthy. Until then, this type of individual may seem somewhat out of reach unless the subject of conversation drifts into a realm in which they have an interest. This kind of individual is most likely to have a small group of friends, typically ones who share common interests and opinions.

They often spot liars very easily due to their extraverted intuition and their ability to recall and compare statements to zone-in on any incongruities. The INTP is a laid back personality that is happy to let things slide.
